A Tribute to Tommy Lee Jones

Fame did not come easy for Tommy Lee Jones. He appeared in a movie nearly every year from 1970 until 1993 and still that elusive thing called "stardom" escaped his grasp. It wasn't until he coolly uttered those famous words "I don't care" to a frantic Harrison Ford that his career skyrocketed to the level that his talent seemed to dictate. Since then he has been every moviemaker's first choice for those gruff but caring leading man roles. We salute his choices and honor his work in our Tribute to Tommy Lee Jones.

Dave Robicheaux is the Cajun detective hero in James Lee Burke's mystery series set in Louisiana. The sixth volume in this series is called In The Electric Mist with Confederate Dead. Not like most detective stories because this hero enters a different dimension and cracks the case through his visions of confederate soldiers. The book is being made into a movie and Tommy Lee Jones will play Lt. Dave Robicheaux. The title has been shortened to In the Electric Mist ( good call). The movie premiers at the Cannes Film Festival.

There are news reports that Tommy Lee Jones is ready to take on Ernest Hemingway. The book is Islands in the Stream and he will write the script, produce, direct, and star in the movie adaptation.
