James Dean only lived twenty four years and starred in just three movies but he became a genuine screen legend. Today he remains a world wide popular film icon. What's New


Heath Ledger won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight. Six other actors had been nominated posthumously.

Jeanne Eagels ("The Letter," 1929) for best actress; James Dean ("East of Eden," 1955); James Dean ("Giant," 1956); Spencer Tracy ("Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" 1967) for best actor; Peter Finch ("Network," 1976) for best actor; and Massimo Troisi ("Il Postino," 1994) for best actor.

Peter Finch who had died of a heart attack two months before the ceremony was the only previous winner.
