2001: A Space Odyssey Synopsis

Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi classic took the space movie genre to an entirely new level. Told is four distinct but related vignettes the movie examines the dehumanization inherent in advancing technology. The primary segment focuses on astronauts Dave Bowman (Keir Dullea) and Frank Poole (Gary Lockwood) as they battle a self-aware and malfunctioning computer named HAL. Grounding breaking in 1968, it is still interesting and thought provoking now that 2001 is actually here.
