OK, he's no Olivier but he gave a good performance in the title role of the movie adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Tequila Sunrise - a good drink and a fun movie. Mel Gibson goes toe to toe with Anthony Hopkins in The Bounty and comes out the winner. It's one of his first roles and it really helped put him on the map. Check out Gallipoli. Not quite historically accurate, but The Patriot is still good fun. Conspiracy Theory - Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts have unusually good chemistry in this fast-paced thriller. Putting aside all the controversy and all the money made ... The Passion of the Christ is a movie that should be seen.
