A Tribute to Gene Wilder
New fans come from each generation of children who know him as Willy Wonka owner of the world's most famous chocolate factory. A check of the castlists of the all time funniest movies will feature his name over and over. His collaboration with Mel Brooks produced some of our favorite comedy classics. (We prescribe watching "The Producers" for anyone who needs a laugh.) We would like to offer you a "golden ticket" to Destination Hollywood's Tribute to Gene Wilder.

Sadly we won't be seeing Gene Wilder in any movies this year. In a recent interview with the L. A. Times he said he probably wouldn't ever act again. However we think all you aspiring comedy screenwriters should send him your scripts because here's what he said next.
He offered the caveat that he might be persuaded if he got a script where "the bell goes off and you say, 'I have to do this.' If it did, I would. But I don't expect that it ever will."
And for a good reason. He doesn't like contemporary comedies that stress profanity over humor -- "the things they think are going to make it commercial -- and, tragically, sometimes they are right," he explains. "Even if the plot sounds interesting, the script is terrible. That's why I'm not doing movies."
So come on somebody send Gene Wilder a funny script with no profanity and maybe we'll see those blue eyes again.
