... that Marlon Brando is arguably the most famous "Method" actor Hollywood ever produced. The acting system was originally developed by Russian acting teacher and author Stanislavsky and expanded to fit American sensibilities by Lee Strasberg. Brando worked with the famed acting teacher at the Actor's Studio in New York alongside such acting greats as Paul Newman, Shelley Winters and Joanne Woodward.

... that Marlon Brando got his early start in the movies under the direction of Elia Kazan. They made three movies together - A Streetcar Named Desire (pictured here), Viva Zapata! and On the Waterfront. It was a very successful collaboration in that not only were the movies critically and commercially well received, but Marlon Brando also received three Best Actor nominations and won one statuette for these Kazan-directed performances.

... that Marlon Brando held his own with co-star Frank Sinatra and did all his own singing and dancing in the only musical of his career, Guys and Dolls.

... that in the true bad-boy fashion Marlon Brando refused to accept his Best Actor Academy Award for his performance as Godfather Vito Corleone in The Godfather. On the night of the ceremony he sent an actress dressed in traditional Indian garb to make his acceptance speech - when his name was announced as the winner she approached the podium and used the to rail against the treatment of American Indians by the motion picture industry. ... that Marlon Brando shocked audiences with his vivid sex scenes in Last Tango in Paris, a movie that was rated X when it was released in 1972 but has since been downgraded to NC-17.

... The Brando - that's the name of the "eco-resort" being built on an atoll in French Polynesia that was Marlon Brando's vision. We love the logo. The resort will feature " 47 deluxe bungalow villas (each with private plunge pools), a spa, fitness center, community pool, as well as various island activities including scuba diving and archaeological tours of royal Tahitian sites."
