Gene Kelly was Hollywood's first and arguably most multi-talented "hyphenate" Singer (Singin' in the Rain) / Dancer (An American in Paris) / Choreographer (On the Town) / Actor (Inherit the Wind) / Director (Hello Dolly) / Producer (That's Dancing) to name just a few of the skills on his stellar resume. He expertly cultivated his athletic prop enhanced "I'm Just a Regular Joe" dancing style to be the perfect counterpoint to fellow MGM musical star Fred Astaire's debonair "top hat and tails" persona thereby etching a place for himself as one of Hollywood's greatest musical stars.
