A Tribute to Clark Gable

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." Eight words that forever define a character, a man and a legendary acting career. The distinguished masculinity and smoldering good looks of Clark Gable were displayed to maximum effectiveness in every one of his movie roles but none so much as his classic interpretation of that quintessential Yankee carpetbagger . . . Captain Rhett Butler. They called him the King of the Silver Screen . . . we couldn't agree more. We hope you enjoy Destination Hollywood's Tribute to Clark Gable

What's New

Victor Fleming is the least well known director of the most well known movies. Michael Sragow, a film critic has tried to give the man who directed the Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind his due with a new biography, Victor Fleming: An American Movie Master. Fleming and Clark Gable were good friends and the book claims that he was the role model for Clark Gable's screen image. The author labels Fleming as "The Real Rhett Butler". He recounts that Clark Gable resisted Fleming's directions to cry in Gone With the Wind. It took all kinds of persuasion, getting him drunk, swearing at him, insulting him but Fleming won and Gable cried and got the Oscar. (and so did Victor Fleming)
