Clark Gable Movie Favorites

It Happened One Night was directed by Frank Capra and began the wonderful screwball romantic comedy genre. Clark Gable won as Oscar for his role.

The best picture of the year for 1935 was Mutiny on the Bounty. Clark Gable, Marlon Brando, Mal Gibson who's your favorite Fletcher Christian?

Clark Gable plays a character named Blackie Norton in San Francisco. It's 1906, the year of the big earthquake.

Required Viewing: Gone With the Wind.

It's a manly man movie and an often overlooked good performance by Clark Gable. He and Spencer Tracey are oil field wildcatters and romantic rivals in Boom Town.

A World War II movie based on a Broadway play, Command Decision is a thinking man's war movie.

We don't think anyone else has ever reprised a screen role of a movie they made 20 years before. Mogambo is a remake of Red Dust both starring Clark Gable. Ava Gardner takes the Jean Harlow role.

Just for fun: Clark Gable and Doris Day in Teacher's Pet. She's the journalism teacher, he's the hard boiled newspaperman. It's great fun.

His last movie, a difficult role, Clark Gable is a macho cowboy who is really a broken man. The Misfits.
