Tribute to High Society
Did You Know?

… The Philadelphia Story started out as a Broadway play written with Katharine Hepburn in mind for the lead. Hepburn was feuding with Hollywood executives and had fled to New York for a much need respite. Hepburn and playwright PHilip Barry each put up half of the money to produce the play. The Broadway production was a huge success and led to Hepburn's professional acting comeback. When Hollywood wanted to buy the movie rights they had to buy them from her and as part of the deal she retained co-star and director approval.
… The Philadelphia Story premiered at Radio City Music Hall on December 26, 1940.
