The Songs of My Fair Lady

Did You Know?

... that Julie Andrews originated the role of Eliza Doolittle in the first Broadway production along with co-star Rex Harrison. Rex fought mightily with studio executives to hire Julie Andrews for the motion picture version of the play. They, however, decided to go with bigger star Audrey Hepburn. Here is a rare clip of Julie Andrews' broadway performance of Eliza Doolittle.

... that both Audrey Hepburn and Julie Andrews would be nominated for Academy Awards in 1964. Audrey for My Fair Lady and Julie Andrews for Mary Poppins. Julie Andrews walked away with the Best Actress Oscar.
