… The part of Louis Tully was written for John Candy but at the last minute he decided he didn't want it so Rick Moranis stepped in to take over the role. Rick Moranis has since retired from acting. When his wife died he devoted his time to raising his children, writing op-ed pieces, recording a cd and doing occasional voice overs. Here's his website.

… The part of Peter Venkman was written for John Belushi. When he died suddenly in 1982 screenwriters Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis had to do some extensive re-writing for new choice Bill Murray.
