Fort Apache Synopsis


A bitter and autocratic civil war military colonel (Henry Fonda) and his daughter (Shirley Temple) are sent to a remote fort. He has been commissioned to lead a battalion of Cavalry soldiers against the local Apaches. Opinionated and racist he clashes with Captain Kirby York (John Wayne) and the other unit officers over their more reasoned approach to dealing with the Indians. The first installment of what would eventually be called Director John's Ford Cavalry trilogy.
