A Tribute to Francis Ford Coppola

We look at Francis Ford Coppopla's career like this: Apocalypse Now, The Godfather Trilogy and Peggy Sue Got Married are so good that he gets an automatic get out of jail free card for Jack and One From the Heart. As the saying goes, even Babe Ruth didn't hit every one out of the park. That's why we think that instead of analyzing the merits of each and every one of his movies we should celebrate his accomplishments as the lead trailblazer for a whole generation of film school trained directors that got their start in the mid sixties. It's for this reason and so many more that we dedicate a Destination Hollywood Tribute to Francis Ford Coppola.

Francis Ford Coppola is in Argentina working on the film Tetro. He wrote the script and is producing this story of an artistic immigrant Italian family living in Argentina. The production has had problems with local unions and a burglary of Francis Ford Coppola's computer containing the script. There was also an unusual cast change when actor Javier Bardem was replaced by Spanish actress Carmen Maura.
"One of the important roles in the script is a mentor and teacher to Tetro (Vincent Gallo), and I originally wrote it for a man," he said. "As I read and reread (the script), I felt that the interaction between the two characters would be far more intriguing if they were of the opposite sex.
