A Tribute to The Way We Were
Often dismissed as a glamorous tearjerker notable only for launching Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford into superstar status in the Seventies, we believe this movie is worthy of higher praise than that. First and foremost it is heart wrenching love story about two opposites for whom love is not enough to sustain a life time of togetherness. More interestingly, it is also the story of the clash between ideology and pragmatism in post WWII America told by a masterful director and storyteller (Sydney Pollack) and two charismatic stars.
