Star Wars References in Indiana Jones

They share common actors and filmmakers but that's not the only relationship between the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movie franchises. We outline a few of the other Star Wars references in this special Indiana Jones feature.

George Lucas, the man behind the Star Wars movies is also the writer and producer of all four Indiana Jones movies.

Harrison Ford starred in both franchises.

In Raiders of the Lost Ark the ID number on Jock Lindsey's plane was OB-CPO a reference to Star Wars characters Obi-Wan Kenobi and C-3PO.

In Raiders of the Lost Ark the walls of The Well of the Souls are covered in ancient hieroglyphics. You can't see it while watching the movie but in a Behind the Scenes documentary the cameras show a hieroglyphic of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

This one you can see in Raiders of the Lost Ark if you are very coordinated with the pause button on the remote control. On the pillar next to Indy when he and Sallah open up the cement box holding the Covenant of the Ark you can see a small hieroglyphic of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

In The Temple of Doom the nightclub where Willie Scott is performing and Indiana Jones gets poisoned is called Club Obi-Wan in honor of Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi.

And finally, in The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Indiana Jones utters a line made famous in the Star Wars franchise by Han Solo.
